    Pharmacological properties
  
    Acyclovir is active against Nerpes simplex types 1 and 2 virus, Varicella zoster, Epstein Barr virus and cytomegalovirus. Thymidine kinase infected cells through a series of sequential reactions actively converts acyclovir to a mono-, di-, and triphosphate of acyclovir. Last interacts with the viral DNA polymerase and incorporated into the DNA which is synthesized for new viruses. Thus, a "defective" virus DNA that results in suppression of virus replication of new generations.
  
    Pharmacokinetics

    Dosing and Administration
